46. I-95 Widening from South of Emerson Street to Atlantic Boulevard
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is widening I-95 Widening from South of Emerson Street to Atlantic Boulevard. The $247 million project is expected to be completed in Spring 2028.
Overview
This design-build project (FIN 432259-2) consists of the reconstruction of I-95 from south of Emerson Street (State Road 126) to Atlantic Boulevard (State Road 10). The anticipated project limits along I-95 extend from approximately 2,700 feet south of Emerson Street to 2,400 feet south of Atlantic Boulevard.
Project improvements include:
Reconstructing I-95 southbound and I-95 northbound to provide a total of 5 travel lanes in each direction
Raising the profile of I-95 to improve sight distance
Replacing the bridges over Emerson Street and San Diego Road
Resurfacing Emerson Street from U.S. 1 to Spring Park Road (FIN 445343-1)
Reconfiguring the interchange at Emerson Street as a median U-turn (MUT) interchange
Installing drainage improvements along I-95
Constructing additional retention ponds
Replacing all lighting along I-95
Replacing all ITS components
Replacing overhead signage
Updating traffic signals
Adding and replacing sound walls
Constructing cul-de-sacs at several locations
Relocating utilities

47. Hendricks Avenue at San Marco Boulevard intersection improvements
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is reconfiguring the intersection of Hendricks Avenue at San Marco Boulevard. The $1.8 million project is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway safety and improvement project at the intersection of SR 13 (Hendricks Avenue) and San Marco Blvd in Summer of 2024. Janus Construction has been selected to complete the intersection modification project which includes a realignment of the crossing that will provide improved pedestrian and bike movements through the intersection. Other safety improvements of this project include new traffic signals, new roadway lighting, pedestrian safety upgrades, bike lane enhancements, widening of the roadway and sidewalks, milling and resurfacing, new signage and other incidental construction. No lane closures will be in effect within project limits between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day.
48. Branzino
A new restaurant concept called Branzino is planned at the intersection of San Marco Boulevard and Phillips Street. The space owned by SMT Realty Holdings, LLC., at 1430 San Marco Boulevard was previously occupied by Pink Salt Restaurant and Wine Bar.
49. 1200 Kings Avenue
An office building at 1200 Kings Avenue is in the process of being renovated. Owned by LMS Holdings LLC., the 5,230-square-foot building was built in 1950.
50. Electric Dough Pizza Company
Chef Tom Gray is in the process of opening a new restaurant concept called Electric Dough Pizza Company in the historic San Marco Theatre building. Electric Dough will be a handmade pizza-centric concept that will also include a cocktail bar and retail area offering take-and-bake frozen pizzas, fresh pastas, from-scratch sauces, house made pimento cheese and other products to enjoy at home.
51. LaSalle Street Pump Station
The City of Jacksonville is constructing the LaSalle Street Pump Station to reduce stormwater flooding on LaSalle Street and the surrounding neighborhood. The new pump station is one of a series of planned improvements to the stormwater collection system in the San Marco neighborhood. Once constructed, this project will significantly reduce adverse flood impacts, which will result in cost-savings and allow residents and businesses within the basin to bounce back more quickly after storm events. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2025.

52. Saleya Cafe & Bar Nicois
Restauranteur Matthew Medure is planning to open a third restaurant in San Marco. The latest concept will be called Saleya Cafe & Bar Nicois. It will be located next to the Maple Street Biscuit Company at 2006 San Marco Boulevard.
