1637 Main Street LLC is in the process of restoring a 9,600 square foot mixed-use building at 1637 Main Street. Located near the intersection of 7th & Main, the renovation project will result in nine apartments and three ground floor retail spaces.

40. Rethreaded Inc. The Delores Barr Weaver Campus For Hope

Rethreaded Inc. is in the process of converting a 2.2 acre complex of warehouses at 515 East 9th Street to support survivors of human trafficking. The nonprofit plans to occupy a 20,000 square foot building and use additional warehouses as rental properties.

Rethreaded describes itself as “a conscious gift company that uses business to benefit our community and our world” through long-term employment coupled with life and career development for survivors of human trafficking. Products its signature scarves as well as accessories, jewelry, house goods, food, coffee and other items made by Rethreaded or offered through complementary organizations. The 36,000 square foot facility will be named The Delores Barr Weaver Campus For Hope.

One of Jacksonville’s only teen-exclusive centers, serving youth ages 13 through 18 after school and during the summer, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida Citi Teen Center is in the process of expansion at 313 East 10th Street.

42. Centennial Towers

The Jacksonville Housing Authority is in the process of renovating all 208 apartments in the 14-storyCentennial Towers building on East 1st Street at a cost of about $14.5 million. The work is being done three floors at a time. Plans call for new appliances, plumbing and air conditioning as well as electrical system upgrades. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
