Permits have already been issued for interior nonstructural demolition to begin at the historic Ambassador Hotel. Plans for the building at 420 North Julia Street involve converting the structure into a $15 million, 120-room LaQuinta brand hotel.

The St. Johns River Water Management District recently issued a permit for a six-story, 135-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel at the intersection of Forest and Magnolia streets.
