Potential other areas where it could be feasible to extend the Skyway
While much of the expansion focus still falls within the downtown proper, there are additional areas where Skyway pentration could be beneficial for the system, ridership and an economic stimulant for the neighborhoods impacted. Examples of these areas include the Beaver Street corridor (Honeymoon) and the border of Brooklyn and Riverside’s Five Points. With this in mind, the survey includes a fill-in option for prioritization of destinations not mentioned.
The Jacksonville Farmers Market attract 25,000 shoppers every week. It is an example of a Beaver Street destination the Skyway could tie if extended west from the proposed JAXIS transit center in LaVilla.
Riverside’s popular Five Points would be within a five minute walking distance of the Skyway, if extended to the Fuller Warren Bridge either along Riverside Avenue, Park Street or College Street.
