13. Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. Headquarters

Vertical construction is underway on a $145 million world headquarters office tower for Jacksonville-based Fortune 500 company Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. Anticipated to be completed by June 2022, the 12-story, 300,000 square foot tower will overlook the St. Johns River with structured parking along Riverside Avenue. The project is expected to create 500 additional jobs.

14. Times Union Bulkhead Replacement Project

Riverwalk bulkhead replacement work and installation of new floating docks are underway along the Northbank and Southbank Riverwalks. The reconstruction of the docks destroyed by Hurricane Irma and Matthew several years ago is being funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for $3.895 million. The City of Jacksonville anticipates completion by late 2021.

15. Lofts at Brooklyn

Construction nears completion on the Lofts at Brooklyn. When complete, the estimated $30 million project will add 133 affordable and workforce housing units at the intersection of Jackson and Chelsea Streets.

16. Añejo Cocina Mexicana

An Añejo Cocina Mexicana restaurant will open soon in a space formerly occupied by Brixx Wood Fired Pizza in Unity Plaza. Specializing in hand crafted margaritas, Mexican dishes, fresh guacamole and more, Añejo Cocina Mexicana recently opened a new location at 330 SR A1A North in Ponte Vedra Beach. According to the restaurant’s website, the main goal at Añejo Cocina Mexicana is to provide customers with the best Añejo dining experience. Facing Riverside Avenue, the Añejo Cocina Mexicana location at Unity Plaza will have 167 seats and outdoor dining.

17. Wolfson Children’s Critical Care Tower

Vertical construction continues on a seven-story tower that will serve as the new “front door” for Baptist Health’s Southbank medical campus. Wolfson Children’s Critical Care Tower is anticipated to be completed in 2021.

18. VyStar Credit Union

VyStar Credit Union is in the process of renovating the VyStar Tower (formerly SunTrust Tower) and the adjacent Life of the South building into the credit union’s corporate headquarters. VyStar plans to activate the first floor of both buildings with commercial and retail space. Five Points eatery The Bread & Board will be opening a new restaurant and specialty market on the ground floor of the Life of the South building. The 7,200 square foot Bread & Board Provisions will include a new restaurant and market combining the elements of a public market and a food hall. Announced retailers include Good Dough donut shop, Alewife Craft Beer Bottle Shop, Bee Friends Farm honey, Layered: Cakes & Sweets, Martin Coffee, local produce purveyor Saturiwa Trading Company, and Bark Urban Dog Boutique.

19. Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi

Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi is currently building out a storefront at the Brooklyn Place retail center. The recently completed 11,500 shopping center was developed by Ponte Vedra Beach-based The Ferber Company.

20. Ruby Beach Brewing

Jacksonville Beach craft brewery Ruby Beach Brewing is expanding and moving to the former Letter Shop building at 228 East Forsyth Street. Renderings show that Ruby Beach will keep the Letter Shop building’s distinctive mail-themed signage on the exterior wall. The brewery will occupy the 2,500 square foot first floor space. The new taproom will feature the current bar, made from wood reclaimed from the Jacksonville Beach pier. There will also be an outdoor patio with an additional bar, and while there will be no kitchen, there will be a space for food trucks. The second floor will be rental space for parties, corporate events, and pop-up opportunities.

21. 100 Hardwicks Bar

OUR Properties is in the process of making alternations and repairs to storefronts at 100 East Adams Street. The building was originally completed in 1926 for the United Cigar Stores Company. Hardwicks Bar will be opening in the storefront.
