The Barrique Kitchen & Wine Bar plans to open in spring 2017 at 3563 St. Johns Avenue. The 5,000 square foot, 100-seat restaurant and wine bar will include a theme that has been described as intimate with “Old European charm.” The New York-based concept’s interior decor will be dominated by reclaimed wood, brick and stucco.

Christianna Louise White will be opening Studio Apothecary White at 1268 McDuff Avenue South.
26. Hoptinger Bier Garden and Sausage House
Hoptinger Bier Garden and Sausage House will be investing $1 million to build-out a new restaurant and bar in Five Points at 1037 Park Street. Hoptinger is a modern “Baverican” bier garden with more than 60 taps devoted to carefully selected craft beer along with a full liquor bar to serve countless libations and creations. Hoptinger offers a unique menu of creative sausage dogs and other loosely Bavarian-inspired gastro pub food. The new restaurant, which will become Hoptinger’s third location, is expected to open in early 2017.

27. Bearded Buffalo Brewing Company
Construction continues on Scott McAlister’s Bearded Buffalo Brewing Company at 1012-1014 King St. The facility, which will be both a taproom, pilot batch brewing facility and a 24-seat restaurant, is looking to open in the first quarter of 2017.

28. Crane Ramen
Popular Gainesville restaurant Crane Ramen plans to open at 1029 Park Street in Five Points. According to the Jacksonville Business Journal, Crane Ramen’s menu includes several varieties of ramen, including market veggie miso, spicy pulled pork paitan ramen, pork-bone broth ramen and a cold ramen tossed with vegetables in a ginger dressing. Other choices include panfried pork dumplings, pork belly steamed buns and wok-fried chicken thighs.

29. Burlock & Barrel Whiskey Distillery
The Burlock & Barrel American Whiskey Distillery plans to open the city’s first licensed whiskey distillery to produce premium spirits soon. The new distillery will be located at 2670 Rosselle Street #3.

Richards’s Sandwich Shoppe at 1030 Oak Street was acquired by Steve Williams in June 2016. Plans call for the building to be retrofitted into a modern, artisanal sandwich shop called The Bread & Board. Here artisan sandwiches either built on locally sourced or baked in-house breads, or deconstructed and slightly larger versions plattered or “boarded” to enjoy (as individual sandwich & condiment components) served with house-made rosemary focaccia rolls. The Bread & Board anticipates a summer 2017 opening.

The Memorial Park Association in collaboration with the City of Jacksonville to improve Memorial Park’s center oval, to improve drainage, amend soils and restore it with a healthy lawn. Perimeter walkways are also being improved to help the health of adjacent trees.

Construction on a new 3,150 square foot coin laundry building for Shin Lee, by The Noble Construction Group, Inc., continues at 1050 Edgewood Avenue in Murray Hill.
35. B Street Eats
B Street Eats, a Latin-inspired lunch and dinner restaurant with a location in St. Augustine, will be opening in Murray Hill by the end of the first quarter 2017. The 3,157-square-foot space was recently occupied by Knead and Bold Bean Coffee’s Roastery on Edgewood Avenue.

38.Commander Apartments
Chance Partners is in the process of renovating the Commander Apartments Tower and building additional multifamily housing along Fishweir Creek, along St. Johns Avenue. Construction on the $40 million, 228-unit development is anticipated to take 16 months to complete.

39. Town Beer Company
Alex and Priya Moldovan plan to open the Town Beer Company at 1176 Edgewood Avene in Murray Hill. The Town Beer Company is envisioned to be a bar that sells local and Florida brews on tap and by the can or bottle, with a goal of supporting local beer and reducing craft beer’s carbon footprint. Plans indicate the 1,200 square foot space with 30 seats, an office, restroom and walk-in cooler. If granted a zoning approvals to operate, the new bar could be open by mid-March 2017.

40. 1187 Edgewood Avenue South
Interior demolition work is underway at 1187 Edgewood Avenue South. Built in 1942, this building is the former home of the Fat Cats Lounge.
