In deteriorating condition, the portion of the mall that served Sears and a movie cinema is closed to the public. The theater opened as the twin screen Town Cinema in the late 1960s. In December 1989, it became the first theater in the Regal Cinema chain and was expanded to 7 screens. Later operated as the independently-run Titusville Mall Cinema, the theater closed in April 2021.
A smaller anchor space on the west side of the mall was originally occupied by Publix Super Markets, Inc. Publix left the mall in 1989, after the chain relocated to a new and larger off-site space. The defunct Memphis-based Fred’s chain operated a store out of the former Publix space between 2006 and 2010. Today, the former Publix space is leased to an Antiques Mall.
If the mall’s owner is successful in implementing their vision, the mall will soon be razed for a major $145 million redevelopment project called Titusville Resort and Destination.
The three-phase Titusville Resort and Destination project by California Retail Properties Corporation, will include a 162,000-square-foot outdoor shopping center, 326 apartments and a seven-story, 153-room hotel.
Titusville Mall (formerly Searstown Mall) is located at 3550 South Washington Avenue in Titusville, FL.
