This Thursday, April 24 starting at 7 pm, King Street destinations Keg & Coin and Dart Bar & Games are hosting a free showing of the classic 1954 Florida-filmed monster movie Creature from the Black Lagoon as a fundraiser for Jacksonville nonprofit 904WARD. For added ambiance and genuine Florida camp, the movie will be shown under the stars via projector in the space between the two venues.

Jaxson cofounder Bill Delaney will present an intro to the “Creature Feature,” one of the most iconic films ever shot in Florida. The movie tells the story of a group of scientists who travel to a lost lagoon in the Amazon where they discover an ancient monster, the menacing Gill-man, played underwater by Florida-born stunt performer Ricou Browning. North Florida’s wild scenery is much on display as the bulk of the film was shot in scenic Wakulla Springs, Florida, with other scenes shot in Silver Springs, Marineland and various California locations. It was followed by two sequels, both also mostly shot in Florida, with a memorable attack scene filmed in Downtown Jacksonville.

Popcorn will be available for purchase during the show. Drinks are also available at both Dart Bar and Keg & Coin. 10% of all draft beer sales will be donated to 904WARD, so grab a pint or two to support a great cause. For more info, visit the Eventbrite page.
