Experiencing the St. Johns River
The Riverwalks
In downtown, riverwalks are located on both sides of the St. Johns River. The 0.80-mile Southbank Riverwalk stretches from Friendship Fountain, just west of the Main Street Bridge, to the Duval County Public Schools office building.
The 1.95-mile Northbank Riverwalk runs from the Riverside Arts Market and the Fuller Warren Bridge in Riverside/Brooklyn to Berkman Plaza near the intersection of East Bay and Liberty Streets.
Water Taxis
Excluding Mondays, the St Johns River Taxi & Tours run water taxis every 30 minutes between the Northbank and Southbank Riverwalks. Water Taxi stops are located at the Jacksonville Landing, Friendship Fountain, Doubletree Hotel, Lexington Hotel, and Metropolitan Marina, for stadium events only.
Public Tours
St. Johns River Taxi & Tours now offers Sunset Cruises and Eco Tours on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Water Taxis also offer trips from downtown to the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens.
The JTA Skyway
The JTA Skyway is a 2.5-mile automated monorail with eight stations in Downton: five in the Northbank and LaVilla and three across the St. Johns River on the Southbank. A ride on the free fare system between the Skyway’s Central and San Marco Stations is an excellent way to see the river, the downtown skyline, and the urban core’s potential.
