KICKBACKS GASTROPUB / GUZZLEPIPE AND GUTTYWORKS

The 2005 opening of Kickbacks Gastropub in a non-descript, 100-year old building heralded the modern-day, beer-fueled renaissance along King Street. Before Kickbacks, the street was mostly comprised of a combination of empty storefronts or businesses that predominantly went dark by 5pm (with apologies to the notable exceptions: the LGBT-friendly Park Place and the since-closed Art Bar). Open 365 days a year from 7am until 3am, Kickbacks quickly established a loyal clientele which brought a steady-flow of eyes and feet on a street that was once dominated by scofflaws operating in the shadows once the street lights came on.

With a selection of over 600 bottled beers and almost 90 more available on draft, Kickbacks has unquestionably become a destination among craft beer fans. Visitors both near and far (including international tourists) make the pilgrimage to belly up to this legendary gastropub decorated by thousands of tap handles on the walls, ceiling and along the bar.

The success of Kickbacks led to one of the most ambitious projects to hit the East Coast beer scene in decades- the construction of a Belgian dining room-inspired addition called Goozlepipe and Guttyworks, completed in 2014.

The 3 level Goozlepipe and Guttyworks building includes a main dining room with mezzanine seating that doubles as a museum of sorts to a vast array of steampunk-inspired art and architectural features. The basement (a rarity in Florida) features a Belgian-inspired bar and dining space, private dining room, private beer lockers and a network of refrigerated beer catacombs that store over 100,000 vintage bottles and kegs of beer.

Combined, Kickbacks/Goozlepipe offers a selection of over 1,000 bottles of beer with 204 more sold on draft (24 of the taps pour Belgian beers).
