Founded in 1975 in Asheville, NC, Earth Fare is an organic and natural foods grocery chain with 37 stores throughout the Southeast, Atlantic and Midwest. At Earth Fare, all products are free of high fructose corn syrup, artificial fats, artificial trans fats, artificial colors, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, artificial sweeteners, bleached or bromated flour, never administered antibiotics or added growth hormones. The chain opened its first Jacksonville location in August 2014 at the Atlantic North shopping center at Atlantic and Kernan Boulevards. At the time, it was envisioned that Jacksonville could support as many as three additional stores. Recently, Earth Fare announced plans for the opening of a second area store in fall 2017. The 27,550-square-foot Mandarin South shopping center store will include a 62-seat cafe and outdoor cafe seating for 16.
