6. Sally Corporation
Although we’d advise you not to attempt to eat or drink their products, Sally Corporation offers a free tour worth including in this Northeast Florida list. Downtown Jacksonville’s Sally Corporation is one of the oldest and largest designers, fabricators and manufacturers of animatronic entertainment in the world. Founded by three Johns: John Wood, John Fox, and John Holland in 1977, one of Sally Corporation’s first “popular” creations was an animated figure of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Eventually, the company would grow to manufacture equipment for “dark rides,” too.
Today, the company serves an array of amusement parks, museums, and other worldwide attractions. Free tours are offered every Tuesday and Thursday hourly from 9am until 1pm. Tours are by reservation only. To reserve, call Sally at 904.355.7100. If you’re considering taking a tour, the minimum age is seven years.
